January's Club meeting topics are as follows:

Description/Agenda: The only business conducted at the January 2009 meeting by the 2008 Board of Directors (BOD) will be the election of the 2009 BOD members. The newly elected BOD will take it from there. Please attend the meeting to vote or to run for a BOD position if you are interested.

Positions include: President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer ( this position can be split if there is interest), Senior Advisor and Member at Large. You must be an ASTRE and NAR member current in dues status to run for and hold an ASTRE BOD position. ASTRE by-laws relative to elections and BOD positions can be viewed in the files section of yahoo group ASTRE471.*

* The Webmaster points out that Senior Advisor and Member at Large do not require NAR membership.

February's Club Build Session model: Estes Wizard

In addition to sport flying, the Estes Wizard can be used for parachute duration (PD), streamer duration (SD), Open Spot Landing (OSL) and other competition events such as random and selected duration. Excelsior Rocketry/Fred purchased a twelve pack of the Wizard kits from Hobbytown and will sell them at a reduced cost to participants at the build session. The cost should be significantly less than the individual kit price. He might even throw in an extra free decal :). Chuck Weiss will direct the build session and also give a demonstration on how to attach and fold streamers and parachutes for competition.

The BOD will hold a business meeting one hour before the start of the 4/5 workshop to plan our first launches for the year. These will most likely be a sport launch in late April and a contest/sport launch approximately a month later in May.

April's Club Build Session model: QCR #116 - B egg loft duration (B ELD) model

We will be building a QCR Egglofting kit. We will be building kit # 116. The cost of the kit is $15.00 (includes S&H). This is a good model to fly in our B & C Eggloft events and spot landing.

If you are interested in building one at the April session please post a message on the ASTRE471 Yahoo list indicating as such. I will order the kits and you can pay me at the event.

I need a final count of kits to allow for adequate ordering and shipping time.
