ASTRE Launches:

ASTRE operates a model rocket range in Johnstown and Guilderland N.Y. We do not own these fields. They are private property, and ASTRE is allowed to use them only as long as certain rules are followed. The fields are open to ASTRE members and guests only on the dates listed in this Calendar of Events.

A note to potential new members: Launches are generally on Saturdays, and we hold Sunday as a raindate. If both Saturday and Sunday are cancelled due to weather (rain, wind, alien invasion), we usually move competitions to the next scheduled launch. An e-mail via the Yahoo Groups will go out the night before the launch with status information (GO or NO-GO), and the website will be updated as well. Your best bet is to check your email and the website first before you trek out to the field.

ASTRE Meetings and Other Activities:

Club meetings are usually informal bull sessions where club business is discussed first, followed by either general "what's new," or a predetermined topic or activity.

This schedule can change, and it is advisable to contact ASTRE Events to find out about any last-minute changes.

January 22nd, 2011 (SATURDAY) Time: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Rotterdam Square Mall Rotterdam, NY	Club Meeting January's Club meeting topics are as follows: Description/Agenda: The only business conducted at the January 2011 meeting by the 2010 Board of Directors (BOD) will be the election of the 2011 BOD members. The newly elected BOD will take it from there. Please attend the meeting to vote or to run for a BOD position if you are interested. Positions include: President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer ( this position can be split if there is interest), Senior Advisor and Member at Large. The ASTRE by-laws require you to be an ASTRE member current in dues standing to hold a BOD position. The by-laws do not require membership in the NAR to hold a BOD position. However because of the responsibilities of the Senior Advisor position related to insurance and interaction with the NAR, it is strongly recommended that the Senior Advisor be a member of the NAR.

October 23rd (SUNDAY) 12:00 am til 4:00 pm Johnstown	Autumn ASTREBlast Local Meet & Sport Launch Competition & Sport Launch Contest events with weighing factors include: 1/2A HD - WF = 19 1/2A SRD - WF = 13 Set Duration, target time 50 seconds - WF = 8 Maximum Launch Mass - 3.3 lbs., Maximum Impulse - G and 125 grams propellant, pending field and weather conditions as determined by the Range Safety Officer.
